Interview with Rick Goodman

Racar Driving, Coffee, and EB Raids

David:
As a site note something pretty cool there is a teacher at the BMW race school in the track in New Hampshire.

Beran: Actually, I have a professional racecar driving license as well. Ive taught car racing to many people through the years.

Socvazius: So youre something of a Renaissance man.

Beran: Yeah [Laughs]

"Actually, I have a professional racecar driving license as well. Ive taught car racing to many people through the years."

David:
Big family man, too.

Socvazius: If you had a chance to be involved with working on another game, what would that be?

Beran: Id have to say-

David:
Racecar Family Man! [Laughter]

Beran: My roots are here in the Boston area I love this community, this is where I would live. As long as it was a successful, progressive place to be, if it was in the Boston area. Although Id have to say that Stainless Steel has to be one of the most successful game companies in New England and its for a genre that I like, so this would be it. Are there alternatives to this in the Boston area? Sure, but Ive hit the pinnacle in the gaming industry.

Socvazius: Oh yes, one of our forumers wanted to know how you like your coffee.

Beran: [Chuckle] I saw that on the boards. Actually, I drink hot chocolate, unlike Dave who drinks it black. [Laughter] And Coke is the only thing we have in the fridge.

"...at 3 o clock every day theres a group of people that walk around Ok, were all going to Starbucks."

Socvazius: So youd drink Coke over Pepsi?

Beran: Actually, Id prefer drinking Pepsi at home, but since the Coke is in the fridge here Ill drink it. I dont really care that much, but the Starbucks is right around the corner so at 3 o clock every day theres a group of people that walk around Ok, were all going to Starbucks. And thered sometimes be 4 or 5, sometimes 15, sometimes 20 people that go at 3 o clock during the day.

Socvazius: I bet the Starbucks people are like Oh no, Stainless Steel is coming! [Laughter]

Beran: Yeah, the people at Starbucks know us, and the people at EB know us; you know, we come down and we buy 50 copies in one day. [Laughter]

David:
You know, were all coming in for a magazine and we end up wiping out their entire stock. We want people to read about our game but we buy all the copies! [Laughter]

Beran: Thats right, everyone comes in with a copy of our game; youre supposed to leave some there for other people to buy. [Laughter]

David:
I think we literally took all of their stock on the first day of release. But we found a QA guy there, too, so it works out well.

Beran: The manager for EB ended up coming here and became a part of the QA team.

Socvazius: Well, I think thats about all of our questions, thank you very much for the interview.

Beran: No problem, thanks.
