Really GG between me and apolon again. I was rushed with by a quick france player but quickly fought off the rush with some good micromanagement. I then built up a good economy and kept apolon solitary most of the game and when my economy grew good enough i knew i could advance to WW2 without a problem and it was all over from there on.
A lopsided match from the start where Unleashed pretty much could have won the game anytime after the 10 minute mark F11 time.
Strategies:
Apolon's early strategy was to continiously pump out infantry and task them immediately toward's unleashed's base. For at least 5 minutes in the first 14 minutes of the game Apolon made no villagers from his TC. He also did a very mediocre job of micro with his few attacking poilu. His economy was terrible since he made no extra villagers during the first minutes of the game therefore he had insufficent wood, and food.
Unleashed's strategy was much better as he laid down the foundation for a strong economy mixed with a decent military. One thing that neither player did well was scout the map in the early moments of the game, which is crucial.
Conflicts:
Other than the first conflict when Apolon rushed there were very few battles to view so it became mostly a waiting game which was not as entertaining as one would wish. In fact as stated earlier Unleashed could have made quick work of Apolon anytime after the 10 minute mark. When Unleashed did attack in the mid part of the game he kept retreating even though his army was far superior. Maybe he just wanted to make the match last. He also made several failed attempts to attack with Saboteurs which was futile since Apolon had air patroling his base.
The Ending:
In the ladder part of the match both players continued to expand their resources with Unleashed doing a much better job. Apolon throughout the whole game I believe had only one TC. In fact Apolon at the 33 minute mark was still in WW1 with no attacks being made by either player. He should have been able to store up for a WW2 advance since he did not increase his army size that much. This reinforces his bad economy. Around the 40 minute mark F11 Unleashed finally attacked his inferior opponent and easily won the game as he stated.
Additional Comments:
No recording is bad since it enables all types of players from beginners to advanced to see different strategies. Apolon if I may give some advice you should never stop producing villagers, especially for such a long stretch of time. Villies are the most crucial units in the game since the are the "building blocks" of production. If you are going to rush a player you must micro well enough to offsett the fact that your econmomy will suffer a bit.
