Playability: 2
This is fun in a sort of "Yeah, I could whip this up too in a minute" sort of way. You're just glad you get to play it without having to go through the trouble of making it yourself. The fact that this is rather unwinnable unless you know EXACTLY where to park your vehicles is kinda detracts. Well, the available spaces left at the beginning may be able to tell the player, but with all the cars getting jostled around and about half destroyed, you can't really tell any more.
Balance: 3
This was well balanced, though it favored the player a bit. When I killed off the Map Shoppers, I stll had 20+ shermans left, when I only really needed 10 to achieve the supposed victory. This means that the author could have put in a few more Mad Shoppers.
Creativity: 2
Oh yeah, this is definitely creative. You play as the Road Hogs against the Mad Shoppers, each with an itch to claim as many parking spots as they can and with the tanks to back them up. That's a fairly creative idea, but it was just implemented badly. And there was nothing else to do after slaughtering the Mad Shoppers and stealing their spaces, which detracted. Why did I have to do this in the first place? To raid CompUSA? To pillage Home Depot? MORE!!
Map Design: 2
The map design is kinda nice in a parking lot sort of way. Meaning, its very bland. Just rows and rows of spaces to park your car. Except this was blander than most parking spaces I've been to. Where I've been, at least they have flower beds here and there for eye candy (well, it is. reletive to the parking lot). And what was up with all the random buildings around it? Couldn't you take the trouble to at least make that look decent?
Story/Instructions: 1
This deserves a one for only one reason. There is absolutely nothing. No story to make me want to battle the Mad Shoppers, there isn't even a single objective! I did what seemed prudent--I killed the Mad Shoppers, then I occupied as many spaces as possible (20+), as it told me to do in the scenario description when I downloaded it (WRONG place to put the objectives!).
Additional Comments:
- It's a creative idea, but just implemented badly. Why no story?
- Map could use a good deal of work (just 'cause its a parking lot doesn't mean that you can't have eye candy here or there).
- This is something anybody could whip up with a spare minute. Add more to it!
-"whip it up in a minute"-- that's what I intended, but 14 grueling hours later...
-"can't tell which parking spaces you're supposed to park in"-- Addressed. Tiled the target parking spaces, and described them in instructions/objectives.
