Trench

Author File Description

File Details
Version: Empires: Retail Release
This is a modification of Trench-DrOrange2.rmv created by Dr. Orange for Empire Earth, edited to work on Empires: Dawn of the Modern World.

The original can be found here: http://ee.heavengames.com/downloads/showfile.php?fileid=2585

Original description:

"Your Main island base is partly surrounded by cliffs and has a fair amount of resources. The 4 to 6 neutrals are partly covered by mountains. Victory in this place will require careful planning and a little luck."

Some thing I've noticed:

Occasionally, some islands will be cut off from the main bodies of water by rings of mountains. Occasionally you can't reach an enemy except by plane, so keep this in mind if you play earlier epochs.

On some maps, your island may have only 4-5 trees, necessitating the founding of a second colony if possible.

I've tested this on all map sizes with varying numbers of starting players. No errors or crashes occurred.

Included are a couple of screenshots.

To install, unzip and move Trench-DrOrange2.rmv to Empires Dawn of the Modern World\Data\Random Map Scripts.

I'll be doing more map conversions in the future and uploading them as time permits.

Credit to Dr. Orange for the original map script.

I should have added that this was true for occasional maps on Empire Earth also.
RozzLe When I started as USA, I only had 4 trees on my island. My lev 5 computer opponent only had 1. There was only 1 other tree on the whole map, on a neutral island. You did say that founding a second colony would be required, but I barely helped. In the end, I was only able to make 2 subs, a transport, and a plane. I had to use my decent stock of gold and food to build mass infantry (no armory) and send 14 at a time to my enemy's base, who was France, it was working for a while, until he started suddenly building mass tanks, even though he had no one on gold while I was attacking him. Eventually, I quit because there was no way either of us would be able to win. I checked the stats at the end and saw that his wood score was twice as big as mine, even though I chopped 2500 wood and he chopped 500. That made no sense at all. Basically, this map needs ALOT more trees. Then it would be pretty awesome.

What size map were you playing on?

I've been tweaking the script and I think I've gotten more trees to start with, but I'm still testing it.
RozzLe oh you know what...I was playing on a tiny map. That might have been why
RozzLe But I'm still very confused why my opponent got a higher wood score than me...

You know what, I just realized..I shouldve saved up for national parks...then I would've owned lol

I've been changing values on the script, but I still can't get many more trees.

Funny thing is that you can spawn a forest around an opponent's settlement and they won't try to harvest the trees.

I've been starting a bunch of games on a tiny map. Sometimes you have lots of trees, sometimes not.
One map had me on an island with no trees, gold mines, or stone mines. lol

So some maps you can't win on. Still, I think its a fun map.
