Empires: Retail Release |
This a 3 min cinimatic to get you in the mood for moody's men. All it needs is a gravely voice saying 'coming soon to theatre near you...' but never got around to it. lol
The Moody's Men scenario to follow is set in WW2. It follows a day and night in the life of Capt. James T Moody and his small squad of men, as they attempt to infiltrate a german controlled trainyard in search of an engineer. Who survives is up to you, and Moody of course!
Features in the scenario are:
Frag/smoke grenades: using in-game chat system.
Grenading tanks: using in-game chat system.
Remote mines: Easily planted, easily detonated. Needed to clear or destroy certain units.
Recover system: Increase first aid and attack bonus.
Cover system: Use certain objects to protect your men from fire.
4 levels of difficulty: Same missions just more ball breaking battles with a small random/deletion/positioning of units.
Detailed map of a trainyard with train carriage, train tracks, trainyard.

SCENARIO:
-----------
TRAINING INTRO CINIMATICS: small but sweet!
TRAINING LEVEL: Collect infomation about the new game mechanics. A fancy 'read me' file, let's say.!
MISSION INTRO CINIMATICS: learn about your mission from this 3 min cinimatics.
-----------
-----------
TRAINYARD INTRO CINIMATICS: get your bearings from this minute and a half cinimatics.
TRAINYARD MISSION: Hell!
TRAINYARD OUTRO CINIMATICS: Survive, do your job and...all I can say is BOOM!
-----------
Music from COD, BIA, etc.
New sounds for rifle (garand ping anyone), mortor, tanks, mg-42, multi-layered sounds for laying and destroying mines, tanks, frag and smoke grenades.
Sounds interesting, but is it really for me?
I'm into click draging my men, attacking, then going to make a coffee to await the outcome.
Then this is not for you! Your men will be dead before you add the milk and two.
If you enjoy waiting for or relying on allied re-enforcements then save your voice: It's Moody, his men and you.
I like quick scenarios: On the hardest level I have done it in about 1 hour, but I was pondering design decisions as well as playing, though. I lost half my men, too.
I like to use one hand while playing games and the other for...no,no,no you will need both. Now get out!
I think this is for me?
If you fancy taking on 45-90mins of micro managing a dozen men. Have the patients of a saint. The guts to push on. The sense to fall back. The spirit to will on your last few men. The heart of a lion. Then, Moody needs you. *finger pointing
Thanks for downloading 'moody's men'. Enjoy!

The cinematic is aweinspiring. You are a machine making movies. The only one problem is that the cinematic doesnt show you how will be the campaign.
Good luck with your campaign! |

blascapone, thanks for the kind comments. I know it's not from the mission, but I did it quickly one night from an idea, while taking a break from the main scenario. Besides, it is called a 'Teaser' after all, and hopefully it did just that. Though, 'aweinspiring' sounds better ;)
Glad you liked the screenshots, I have many, but didn't want to contradict more or less the whole point of a teaser.
I presume by 'machine making movies' you mean 'movie making machine' However, being a machine sounds cooler, so I'll stick with your interpretation. :)
The scenario is 99.9999% done, so will be out soon. I'm just extra-fine tuning and trying to enjoy a game of it myself for once.

Inspiring is what I can say regarding this trailer! The music setts the mood and the switch from the before shots of the town to after shots was very well done.
Question why does it say a 1971 production? Just curious. Good luck with the scenario, and btw I downloaded it into my scn folder instead of campaign folder by mistake since it was listed as a SP scenario. |

Cheers for the comments, RTEHistDesign. Just to make it clear on the campaign, scenario front. The scenario to be released is a sp scenario. But it's easier to pack as a campaign file, because all the new sounds in it get packed along with the campaign file. This means I don't have to pack the samples individually and you don't have to place them all in the right folders. As an example, if I had a seperate cinimatic and a scenario which were part of one story I would still have to pack them as a 'campaign' file even though it is just a single scenario.
As for the 1971 production, don't read to much into it. I was just being tongue'n'cheek. As though it was a film trailer. I'm more suprised why you didn't mention 'fruit gum studios'. lol
Again thanks mitch1971.
Just incase it's not clear on the read me

Technically, this is a campaign file, so I have moved this file to the campaign section.
The map design in this teaser is absolutely stellar.
Great Job!

Where did it go?! My word, my heart was in my mouth for a moment. I've lost so much in scenario design it hurts, I thought my luck had finally ran out and the web was now loosing me my stuff. haha! So, thanks for the explanation intrepid, and for the comments, too.
The scenario is next to complete, I just can't stop playing it to release it.
Actually just refining it to the n'th degree before release. |

If I were to make one suggestion it would be to add some people milling around to the first part of the cinematic. |
