Here is one of the solutions:
Quote:
#1 – Open the control panel located off the start menu.
#2 – Access Administrative Tools
#3 – Open the “Services” icon
#4 – Go to Services (Local)
#5 – Scroll down until you find the service titled “Messenger”
#6 – Right click on the “Messenger” and go to properties
#7 – Under the General tab, find the slide bar labeled Startup Type (it should read as Automatic)
#8 – Switch the Startup Type from Automatic to Disabled
#9 – Either click Service Status to Stop or restart your computer for the change to take effect.
I used to get a LOT of them, now I get none btw,

Note: this will in no way impair the way MSN Messenger function, it simply stops “Alerter messages sent between client and server”
So, now you can play your games in peace, those pop ups caused crashes and a lot of lag.. your free now.

Yea those are a pain, its a crappy new form of advertising that basically exploits the use of inherent windows messaging. Its especially bad for the people who don't know how to go about searching for a solution (ie: probably most of my family )

You know, every time I play Utopia now, I get Virtual Bouncer nicely installed onto my system...
Someone needs to make these non-agreeing installs illgeal, because its a real pain running AdWare each time I play....
Note: Update both when ran, for the latest adware/spyware **** stuff.
Try to close any programs that are running in the background too, they can sometimes leave ports vulnerable for adware companies to send ads through at you.
A firewall that stealth’s your ports also helps, like the windows xp one, but this prevents you from hosting games.
