United States: Single Player Demo available at Best Buy with Pre-order. Multiplayer Demo available at EB soon! Also available for download! International: Unreleased
When will the demo be released?
United States: It is scheduled to be released late September or early October.
International: It is also scheduled to be released late September or early October.Where can I buy the demo?
United States: Electronics Boutique and Best Buy. At Electronics Boutique, you must pay $1.99 at the cash register in order to get the demo. At Best Buy, you must pre-order Empires: Dawn of the Modern World. You will also get a strategy guide. It is unlikely that Best Buy will give you a demo if you already pre-ordered it (you must pre-order when the Demo is available).
International: No known plans for International fans to buy the demo. See below: "Where can I get the demo for free?"Where can I get the demo for free?
United States & International: Stainless Steel Studios is trying to get the demo in as many magazines as possible. For example, the UK magazine PCZone will feature the Empires demo in thier November 2003 issue (released October 2003). Alternatively, you can wait for the demo to be downloadable. The "free" version will likely come after the "buy" version. What will the demo include?
The demo will include both Single Player and Multiplayer. The Single Player portion has two scenarios from two different campaigns. The Multiplayer will *likely* have a Random Map. Rumor is that it will be done over the new GameSpy matchmaking system.Do I HAVE to buy the demo?
No, if you don't mind the extra wait. As stated before, the downloadable "free" version will likely be released later.Other than Electronics Boutique and Best Buy, where else can I get it?
Electronics Boutique and Best Buy are the only official locations to get the Empires demo. You may be lucky and perchance get it elsewhere, but don't count on it.I live in Canada. Am I considered International?
You are International. However if you have a Best Buy or Electronics Boutique in your area, you may just get lucky. Why does the demo cost money?
The demo does not cost money. What you pay at Electronics Boutique and Best Buy is for: the CD, the mastering, the CD printing (any art on the CD, booklets and other material) and other business arrangements. You are also paying for the Empires demo in magazines: the price of the CD is added to the price of the magazine. You're helping pay for the Empires demo when downloading: advertisements on the server's website.
